Will India Face Another Lockdown? Here’s What Prime Minister Narendra Modi Said About Crisis (X@sansad_tv)
New Delhi: Amidst the ongoing war in the Middle East, talks regarding lockdown have once again intensified in the country. The reason became the recent speech of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, after which various types of claims started circulating on social media. While many linked it to the upcoming sanctions, the situation on the ground looks different.
To be clear, the prime minister did not use any word like "lockdown" in his speech. He just said that the country should be prepared for any major crisis. That means it was a matter of preparation, not of imposing restrictions.
The prime minister clearly said in Parliament that this war in the Middle East can have a long-term impact and India will have to be prepared for its economic and strategic implications. He appealed to the citizens to remain alert and united but did not mention restrictions or lockdown anywhere.
Actually, the Covid period was mentioned in the speech. It was from here that the word started spreading. Some people presented it as if the same situation was going to happen again. Clips and half-baked stories started circulating rapidly on social media and created confusion.
Right now the focus is on keeping the system ready. Energy, supplies and essential services are being reviewed at different levels. Its purpose is that if the international situation has an impact then the country should proceed with caution.
At present there is nothing to worry about. Markets are open, supplies are normal and the government has not indicated any kind of lockdown. In such a situation, it is better to stay away from rumors.
This will largely depend on the situation in the Middle East. If the situation worsens then there may be an impact, but for now no strict action seems to be taken. For now the message is clear—be prepared, but there is no need to be afraid.
